2008 Coaching Staff


COACH SENSENEY Chad Senseney, Head Coach & Defensive Coordinator at Centaurus High School is in his fifth season at the helm with an overall record of 31-14.  He played high school football for the Strasburg Rams in Virginia, playing in their state championship game in 1992.  Coach Senseney is excited about this season, citing an experienced defensive unit, big players up front, talent on the perimeter and excellent leadership from the senior class.  Also a math teacher at CHS, he is married to Crystal Senseney, Head Coach of the CHS Girl’s Basketball Team.  One of Coach’s favorite quotes is: “Success rests not only on ability, but upon commitment, loyalty, and pride.” (Vince Lombardi)

COACH CARSKIE
Bob Carskie, Offensive Coordinator
, has coached football for more than 30 years, with 11 years of head coaching experience at the high school level including leading the Gordon Tech High School team to the Illinois 6A championship in 1980, and another 12 years as an assistant coach.  He also has 10 years of college coaching experience and served as Athletic Director at Boulder High School for 2 years.  This is his second year at Centaurus.  Coach Carskie has two children, Samantha, 17, and David, 14.

COACH VERMILLION
Dave Vermillion, Offensive Line Coach,
has coached high school football at Centaurus and Fairview as well as coaching the Lafayette Bobcats.  This is his second year as a varsity coach at CHS.  Coach Vermillion’s greatest football memory is playing in the 1978 state championship game for Fairview High School.  Coach Vermillion is married to Karen and has two sons, Dallas, a Centaurus graduate, and Chase, who is a sophomore this year.  Coach V’s philosophy: “FEET, FEET, FEET is the key to Football!”

COACH JOHNSONRoy D. Johnson, Defensive Backs Coach, has been a high school football coach for 6 years, 4 of them at Centaurus, where he is also the Head Track & Field Sprint Coach.  Coach Johnson grew up in Pueblo where his family still resides.  He played football and rugby at the University of Northern Colorado where he majored in Political Science and African American Studies.  He also played 6 years of semi-pro football and is a personal trainer.  Coach Johnson says, “Football and athletics have always been good to me, and I just want to share and learn by still being a part of that community and giving back to the youth.  Football and athletics is not what I do, it’s who I am.”

COACH DUBRAVAC
Jon Dubravac, Wide Receivers Coach,
is now in his 3rd year as a varsity coach at CHS.  Coach Dubravac has played the game for many years and at many levels, including at Mullen High School, UCLA, and with the San Francisco 49ers Football Team.  When asked how he sees the season shaping up, Coach Dubravac said he is, “thrilled with the dedication and hard work that these guys have put forth.  I expect great things from these athletes!” Coach Dubravac lives in Erie with his wife Jodi and their dog Walter.  “Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there,” are words Coach lives by.

COACH HAMPTON
Andy Hampton, Defensive Line Coach,
coached for 2 years at Boulder High and is now in his second year at Centaurus.  Coach Hampton played football for Wartburg College, (IA) and remembers fondly beating a professional team in Berlin Germany during his college career.  His mom and dad both live in Iowa and his brother Nick lives in Madison, WI.  Coach Hampton says he, “is very excited about the possibilities for the upcoming season.” One of Coach Hampton’s favorite quotes is: “I can accept failure, but I cannot accept not trying.” (Michael Jordan)

COACH KINNEY Doug Kinney, JVC Head Coach & Varsity Assistant Coach, has coached since 1993 in the Lafayette area, including 7 years as a Bobcat coach and 8 years at Centaurus as a JV and JVC (Freshman) football coach. He believes in the great tradition of athletics at Centaurus. He is supported by his wife of 26 years and two children, Cammey now 23 working in the Lafayette area. And Cody 21 who is in the U.S. Army stationed in Al-Kut Iraq. Both of his children enjoyed 4 years of being three sport athletes at Centaurus. Coach Kinney believes that each game brings about its own memorable moment  Coach's favorite quote is: “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.”

COACH RICHARDSON
CJ Richardson, JVC Assistant Coach & Varsity Linebackers Coach,
has been coaching at Centaurus for 3 years, first as a freshman team coach, adding varsity assignments in addition last year.  Coach Richardson cites the 2006 JVC game against Evergreen that ended with a one-point victory for CHS as a remarkable contest.  His family members are his father Rich, mother Gena & brother Andy and his favorite quote is: “Play hard, play smart, play together!” (Dean Smith)
